🌾 Recap | FAOBangladesh Innovation Series #6
From Lab to Farm: Precision Agriculture for a Smarter and More Resilient Bangladesh
The World Food Forum Bangladesh Chapter was pleased to participate in FAO Bangladesh’s Innovation Series #6, an inspiring knowledge-sharing session that highlighted how precision agriculture, artificial intelligence (AI), IoT, robotics, remote sensing, drones, and digital agriculture are shaping the future of Bangladesh’s agrifood systems. The session emphasized how these innovations can improve productivity, optimize resource use, strengthen climate resilience, and support sustainable food systems.
We were honored to hear the keynote presentation by Dr. Tofael Ahamed, Associate Professor at the University of Tsukuba, Japan, who showcased cutting-edge research on adaptive plant factories, UAV applications, smart greenhouses, AI-powered sensing technologies, agricultural robotics, and data-driven decision support systems. His presentation demonstrated how research can be translated into practical solutions for farmers and how these technologies can be adapted to Bangladesh’s agricultural landscape.
The session was chaired by Dr. Jiaoqun Shi, FAO Representative in Bangladesh, and moderated by Dr. Iftikhar Mostafa, Senior Agricultural Economist, World Bank. It also brought together researchers, universities, government institutions, development partners, private sector innovators, youth, and practitioners to discuss opportunities for collaboration and scaling digital agriculture innovations across the country.
At World Food Forum Bangladesh Chapter, we believe that empowering young people with knowledge, innovation, and technology is essential for building more efficient, climate-smart, resilient, and inclusive agrifood systems. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with partners who are driving agricultural transformation in Bangladesh.
Together, let’s turn innovation into impact: from the laboratory to every farm.
